Week of Jan. 16 - 20, 2017

Take a Peek at Our Week!

We have been reading many different fairytales and folktales. The children's favorite was the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. They have decided to recreate and share this story for our upcoming performance in February!

Goldilocks & the Three Bears display

We spent time reading various versions of this beloved classic, while discussing story elements. This week we focused on identifying the characters in the stories we read.

The children worked on their All About Goldilocks
and The Three Bears
 books.

We talked about each character and discussed what we like about them. Then each child voted for their favorite character and graphed the results.

Who is your favorite character?

Unscrambling this week's mystery sentence.

The children enjoyed wheelbarrow racing and playing "Telephone," a whispering game.

We read and sang along to Down by the Bay. Everyone did a wonderful job identifying the many rhyming words found throughout the song. Then we identified words that rhyme with wall.

Math

We explored ordinal numbers (1st, 2nd, 3rd...) and we ordered and sequenced familiar events. The children are learning how to use sequential language (first, next, then, last) to describe an activity.
