Take a Peek at Our Week!
Our fun and busy week was filled with numeracy, science and Japanese culture activities. On Wednesday, the children worked in mixed-age groups while rotating through various math related centers.
Science was the theme for Thursday. Preschool 4 students participated in 3 different hands-on experiments. In Ms. Yesim's class the children used vinegar and baking soda to blow up balloons!
We tried to blow the balloons with our mouths...but it wasn't easy! |
Adding the baking soda to our balloons. |
The smell of the vinegar was so strong! |
We did it! |
In our class we used all of our 5 senses to make delicious homemade butter! It was interesting to see how our liquid whipping cream changed into butter simply by shaking.
We ended the week with some fun Setsubun activities.
Smelling the whipping cream. |
First we add the liquid whipping cream to our glass jar. |
Next we added a few clean marbles to help with the churning process. |
Time to shake it! |
And shake some more! |
When we didn't hear the sloshing sound of the liquid, we opened the jar and saw that we had made whipped cream! |
We tasted the whip cream. |
We popped the top back on and continued to shake! |
Soon after we noticed that our whipped cream separated into butter and buttermilk. |
We poured off the buttermilk and scooped the butter out of the jar. |
Woohoo!!!! We made BUTTER! |
We slathered our light and fluffy butter onto our bread. |
Mmmmmmm....it was delicious! |
We ended the week with some fun Setsubun activities.
We had an amazing week!
